Permanent Monitoring and Supervision System (7×24) for Optical Networks

Fiber Optic based networks belonging to Telecom Service Provide as well as Carriers that transport these services are requiring an a continuous growth of bandwidth while maintaining an optimal quality of service settle thru the use of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) with the clients granting that the transport of data from point to point does undergo alterations or loss in quality.

Transport data at high speed in Fiber Optic based networks (greater than 10Gbps per service) has an inherent penalty intrinsically linked to the Fiber Optic physics: attenuation due to splices that degrade with time, path of fiber through panels under stress due to over exceeding recommended curvature layouts, increase or fluctuation of PMS, reflection generated in parch panels, etc. Thus there is a need to monitor the Fiber Optic network infrastructure to make sure the SLA agreement between carriers, operators and clients are met.

WoneWatch is a modular, scalable that out performs the BERT Tester, multiprotocol probes and OTDR solution, allowing managers of Fiber Optic networks the possibility to permanently (7×24) monitor the QoS being delivered in the link as well as the detection of fiber breaks.

The System consists of a 19” rack mounted chassis, filed deployable (and overlayed on the networks) and a software platform that monitors in real time, capable to store and detect alarms, events and QoS statistics. The chassis is the two types, one modular that offers the capacity to house 4 to 12 slots can be configured to hold and combine BERT (Bit Error Rate Tester), Micro OTDR (lower links 50 Km) and Multiprotocol probes for QoS surveillance for permanent monitoring of key locations for example: critical links, singular points in the network, network edge, etc, and other the 1u for OTDR-LR (up to 240 Km) and Optical Performance Monitoring (OPM).
